The San Elizario Genealogy and Historical Society was founded in 1991 after a conversation at a family reunion about the importance of younger generations knowing about their family history and the history of San Elizario. The organization proudly works alongside the County of El Paso to preserve and operate the Visitor Center at Los Portales Museum and the Old County Jail, two of the most valuable architectural elements assets in the El Paso Mission Trail.
